One, when a lion was asleep, a little mouse began running up and down upon him. this soon awakened the lion, who placed his huge paw upon him, and opened his big jaws to swallow him. "Pardon, O king," cried the little mouse, "forgive me this time, I shall never forget it. who know but what I may be able to do you a turn some of these days?"
The lion was tickled at the idea of the mouse being able to help him, that the lifted up his paw and let him go.
Some time after, the lion was caught in a trap and the hunters, who desired to carry him alive to the king, tied him to a tree while him on.

A Farmer and His Three Sons

A farmer had three sons. They were strong and young but never agreed with one another. They often quarreled among themselves. The farmer had given them a lot of advice. But they always turned a deaf ear. They disliked advice. The farmer felt very sad about it.
The farmer thought a lot and then he thought up a good plan. He called his sons and ordered them, 'Bring me a few sticks." The farmer tied the sticks into a bundle.
"Each of you, break this bundle of sticks said!" said the farmer. They did so, but they could not break it. Then, the farmer untied the sticks and gave each of his sons a stick. Each of them broke the stick easily in the twinkling of an eye.
"There you are, my sons!", shouted the farmer. "If you remain united, you are strong. But if you quarrel with one another, you will be broken one by one easily. Do you understand what I mean?"
At last, the advice worked out. They lived in harmony and united ever after. The farmer felt relieved. "Now I can die peacefully," he whispered.

BODY LANGUAGE

Body language is an important part of every language. This body language, however, is interpreted differently from culture to culture.

Laughing
An American-style smile, for example, is big and friendly. Americans are never afraid of showing their teeth. They don't cover their smile with their hands because they think that such a gesture is a silly thing to do. In fact, putting the hand in front of the mouth when laughing is considered impolite. It means that you are making fun of the other person.

Eye contact
When speaking, Americans do not close their eyes. This eye contact is very important in the U.S. They believe that 'honest people look at you directly, dishonest people look to the side, and embarrassed people look down.' If you close your eyes while talking with them, they will think you either bored or asleep.

Should Ads be Banned from TV Program?

I am writing to complain about ads on TV. There are so many ads, especially during my favorite program. I think they should be stopped for a number of reasons.
First, ads are a nuisance. There go on for a long time and there are so many. Sometime duration for ads is evenlonger than the program itself.
Second, ads give a bad influence on people. They try to encourage people to buy unhealthy food like beers, soft drinks, candies, and chips. In other words, they make people want things they do not really need and cannot afford.
Finally, ads play role in what programs people watch. That is because there are lots of ads in popular programs that a lot of people watch. Some programs which are not so popular get stopped because they do not attract enough ads, even though those programs may be someone’s favorite.
For those reasons, I think TV stations should stop showing ads. They interrupt programs. They are a bad influence on people and they sometimes put a stop to people’s favorite shows. I am sick of ads and now I mostly watch movie in cinema.

Tips Belajar Tata Bahasa Inggris

"At least one policeman was injured in the explosion which happened when security forces were patrolling in the port city of Trincomalee"

  • TIDAK dikatakan "which was happening when security forces were patrolling" karena alasan tertentu
  • alih-alih hanya dituliskan "in Trincomalee", di situ ditambahkan informasi dengan mengatakan "in the port city of Trincomalee". Dengan demikian kita juga dapat menggunakan struktur yang sama untuk tujuan yang lain, misal "I studied in the small town of Magelang" sebagai pengganti "I studied in Magelang, which is a small town" yang lazim kita gunakan.
Misal: I want to sit on that chair; On that chair I want to sit.

I want to sit on that chair. Perhatikan kata I, sit, chair.

Legend of Mount Bromo

Long long time ago there lived a couple in the village near the top of mount Bromo. Joko Seger is his name. He lived peacefully with his wife Roro Anteng. But they were not happy because after some time they did not have any children. Then Joko Seger meditated in mount Bromo asking for god to give them children.

Some times later Joko Seger had a dream. In his dream he was told that he would have descendants but on one condition. The god asked him to sacrifice his children to the crater of mount Bromo. If he refused to sacrifice, then the god will be angry. Without thinking twice Joko Seger agreed to the condition.

After that every year Roro Anteng gave birth to twenty five children. They were very happy and they loved their children so much that they were reluctant to sacrifice them to the crater. They did not give anything to the crater. Then something happened.

One day there was a big eruption of mount Bromo. Smoke, fire, hot cloud of ash came out of its crater. The earth was trembling. The sky was dark. Animals ran away from the mountain. People were very scared since some of them became victims of the hot cloud.

Joko Seger and Roro Anteng remembered their promise to god. He realized that god was very angry. So he decided to sacrifice one of his sons. Then he went to the crater with his youngest son Kusuma. Because Joko Seger did not really want to sacrifice his son to the crater, he tried to hide him. But suddenly an eruption began and made Kusuma fall. Afterwards, Kusuma, who had fell to the crater, gave a voice, "I have to be sacrificed by my parents so that you will all stay alive. From now on, you should arrange an annual offering ceremony on the 14th of Kesodo (the twelfth month of Tenggerese calender.)"

Since then on Joko Seger and Roro Anteng gave offerings to the crater. Every year on the 14th day of the month of Kesada the people of Tengger held a ceremony to give offerings.

GIRL IN THE MIRROR

One day, I was at a party when somebody dared me to go into the bedroom in the basement, turn off the lights, and close the door. I had stayed there for five minutes. After about a minutes. the lights started flicker on and off. I was sure it was one of my friends playing a trick on me. About the third time the lights flickered, I noticed a beautiful girl in the mirror and her hand was reaching toward me. I heard a voice but i had a hard time to understand. I finally realized that the girl was uttering, "beware, he's coming." I felt a tap on my back and all of a sudden, she was gone. I ran out screaming and my friends made fun of me. The next night when my family was asleep, it rained so heavily and my cat, Rosie, was dead.

After many years we are fixated on the same person, how do we know that what we feel is the LOVE and OBSESSION instead of consisting of a pile of curiosity because they never get clarity ..?

After that, I can only answer the questions I ask myself. What I feel for him it LOVE or obsession? The answer is: LOVE.

The reason?
Because love means happiness. While the mean pressure obsession. Love means forgiving. While the obsession tends to hold grudges. Love means letting go. While the obsession means losing.

I choose to forgive. Releasing. Let him be happy and more importantly, allow him to find his own happiness .. :)
